Welcome to the home page of cad4theatre
Since 2000 cad4theatre, run by David Ripley, has been providing AutoCAD Training to the Theatre and Entertainment Industries.
I provide training for practitioners in a variety of disciplines across the industry as well as students and their tutors. I am an Autodesk AutoCAD 2009 Certified Associate and also have City & Guilds qualifications in Draughting with AutoCAD
The majority of the training is provided via the ABTT and covers AutoCAD versions from 2000/2000i to the current version AutoCAD 2010.The training I provide is generally by Distance Delivery with full email support. Most recently I have changed the format of the course materials from paper based to HTML units with simple Flash videos
2005 saw the release by ET Press of AutoCAD - A Handbook for Theatre Users which contains elements of the training course as well as other useful sections
As well as teaching CAD on a variety of performance related course such as those at Rose Bruford, Central St Martin’s College of Art and others I also use AutoCAD myself, providing draighting and surveying services. I also teach on the ABTT’s Gold Award, covering technical drawings in theatres. In addition I also provide consultancy services to those setting up or trying to maintain CAD systems in terms of deployment and standards.
I have recently been working on the Lighting Standards for CCSkills which is part of the National Skills Academy project. I am a member of both the ABTT and ALD as well as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy
I am now the UK and Ireland dealer for Design and Drafting’s LD Assistant; an extremely powerful lighting and visualisation programme based on Autodesk Technology
