If, like me you have had to swap between CAD and lighting programs, drawing the stage in one, then adding lanterns and previzing in another (or two) then help is at hand.

LD Assistant is now in the UK, combining the familiarity of the AutoCAD style interface whilst retaining all the draughting tools and adding all you want from a lighting program and some stuff you didn’t know you wanted. No more issuing AutoCAD commands in a program that doesn’t understand them. No more draughting hell as you try and draw objects in a program not designed for draughting. With LD Assistant you remain in the dwg environment throught the process, from the first line to the last fade.

LD Assistant will produce clean sharp plots of your design and accurate renderings as well as animations and paperwork, all in one file format you can accurately exchange with other members of your team.

LD Assistant comes in two versions:

LD Assistant AC If you don’t already have AutoCAD then this is the version for you. As well as including Autodesk’s advanced draughting and design tools LD Assistant also includes all the features that you would expect in an advanced lighting programme including libraries of lanterns, colours and gobos. LD Assistant also includes bi directional communication with all the major protocols with MA Net about to join us.

LD Assistant Ac 08 comes with built-in support for 64 DMX-512 Universes, and can both send DMX and receive DMX through a dongle. Lighting consoles and lighting systems can be connected using Pathport Ethernet, Art-Net Ethernet, Art-Net Parallel, LD-Net USB, ENTTEC Ethernet, ENTTEC Open USB & Pro USB dongles. Once a plot has been created, the design is opened (with one button click) in LD Control, a real-time visualizer for pre-cueing and testing designs. Save thousands of scenes and cues within a single DWG file. Creating AVI movies of scenes and cues with the push of a button.

LD Assistant PL for those already with AutoCAD PL adds the toolbars and blocks to your existing programme turning it into a powerful draughting and lighting tool all in place.
